There are approximately 19 historic buildings around Takanawa, those had been built during the late nineteenth-century or the early twenty-first-century.

In the above listed facilities, only Tokyo Metropolitan Teien Art Museum, Minato City Local History Museum and Old University Library of Keio University as the Fukuzawa Yukichi Memorial Keio History Museum are open for public.

Hattori House, Building 1 of THE INSTITUTE OF MEDICAL SCIENCE and Kihinkan of Grand Prince Hotel Takanawa are possibly related to the redevelopment projects.

City Developments Limited (CDL), Singapore based real estate company have acquired Hattori House in 2014. The company will develop apartment at the area, but also plans to keep Hattori House building. It would be expected it will not be open for public, unfortunately. At the moment, there is no announcement of the development.

THE INSTITUTE OF MEDICAL SCIENCE is located in the Shirokanedai campus of The University of Tokyo. Shirokanedai campus is under planning of redevelopment which is service apartment for visitors and apartment with medical services. There is no information of Building 1 related to the redevelopment. Hopefully, the building 1 could be remained.

Route Kanjo No. 4 will be laid within the premises of Grand Prince Hotel Takanawa. But, Kihinkan is located 40m south of the Route No. 4 and will not be effected by development of the route. On the other hand, Grand Prince Hotels Takanawa is included in the project of Shinagawa Station West-gate Area B. At the moment, there is no official information related to Area B. May Kihinkan remain as historic building.

Talking about historic buildings around Takanawa, Takanawa Chikutei should not be skipped. However, it should not be talked along with above other buildings. Hopefully, I’d liken to find other opportunity to talk about Takanawa Chikutei.
